Hi Guys; Laura has a good handle on the egg laying business. I do have a question on Ron's RIRs. Where did they come from? True RIRs are scarce, thank God or more backyard chicken farmers would be casualties. Most hatcheries sell Production Reds as RIRs. These and the Sex links should start between 16 and 20 weeks. Orpingtons a bit longer and Ameraucana can be anytime. 15 weeks is a bit unusual but there is no denying it when the egg is sitting right there. If I were you I would keep a close eye on them. They may be hiding the eggs or worse eating them.

> Hello. I have a question for everyone. When do chickens start laying eggs. I have 2 red sexlinks, and a bared rock that are 20 weeks old. I also have4 buff orpington's, 2 americanas. that are 15 weeks old. I thought the sexlinks should be laying eggs by now. When I raised the americanas, I raised 6 of them. 4 of them were for another guy. He said 1 of his is laying eggs. I couldn't believe it would at 15 weeks. So if some one can help me guess when they should start laying. Thanks
