Re: [CHICKENS-101] newbe Help please

I am guessing that your feed has too much soy and not enough animal protein. I'd add a bit of cheap greasy dog food, ground up to their feed. I watched chicks yesterday and today eat feathers.  That tells me that their feed is lacking and I am doing the same.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] newbe Help please

hi, thanks for letting me join.

we have 10 chickens and just got our first egg last sat.and have gotten 2 a day since then. But starting a week or two ago they started pulling tail feathers out of each other. The one starting it was the first egg layer. I figure this is a diet need but not sure what the need is. we have layer food mixed in some with growth. Do I need to just go to all layer. are there treats that I should be giving that would help?

Our coop is 8x4 and the run 17x8 so they have room. Lots of roost area 3 nesting boxes. I'm at a loss what to do to help these girls. It was one chicken getting picked at first and now she is so skittish spends most of the time in the coop so they have started on 2 more. One might have a bloody rear.

any suggestions will be helpful
