Re: [CHICKENS-101] Learning stuff every day

It's an interesting life, isn't it, this farm stuff?  I've learned to not let my cat out the last couple hours of daylight because she makes herself scarce and stays out all night too.
Scares me and I don't sleep well, knowing she's outside in the big, bad, world.

One of my boarding chickens is missing, so the remaining ones are being put in smaller pens instead of the big chicken yard.  I'll move some of my own chickens into the unsecured yard for the next month, my egg producers.

I cant even recall if I have posted yet.. we just moved to our farm-ette, finishing up the fence around the garden and will start on the coop next... but we learned last night that we indeed have a predator nearby... we found a half eaten racoon in our front yard.

Since we didnt hear any ruckus DH thinks it may have been hit on the road ( we live right off a big highway) and either limped its way over or was dragged by something. He was big and would have put up a fight, with our windows open we would have heard it ...

and of course right after we cleaned that up.. my kitty decides he wants to stay out for the night and didnt come in.. so I listened all night... but he came in this morning, I wish he could tell me what he sees out there...

of course if he could i may never let him out again...

So we cant kid ourselves when we built the coop.. has to be predator proof...
