RE: [CHICKENS-101] Guineas & Snakes

The ticks are really bad this year and I guess that is the big motivation for some.  They are wonderful bug eaters, so if you can stand the noise……Guineas are a great choice of natural insecticide.

I have four going tomorrow afternoon and another 6 going next weekend.  That will leave me with two from the 5/8 hatch and 7 from the 5/28 hatch.  If all nine stay, no biggie.  My dh is fond of them and likes that they eat the bugs.

If they weren’t so big and costly to ship, I’d say send them to me………BUT, that means all our earnings from the keets would be zeroed out!

I am thinking about having a large pen made for the Guineas so I can gather their eggs and keets more efficiently.  This going off and hiding eggs is for the birds. LOL!  I love that mama G brought them home to us, but who knows if she lost any on the way.

I am so jealous Laura!  I have 5 guineas and can't find anyone in MI who needs guineas.  They are getting ready to nest and there is no way that is going to happen here. Cathryn
