Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Novice Chicken mama

Years, and I do mean years, ago there was a commercial for dog food, can't
remember which one, but it had a great dane in it and ducks all over it trying
to get to the dog food.  Saying, "dog, what dog?"  "Where's a dog?"  It was
really cute.  My dogs have been really good around the chickens (so far).  Of
course a lot of chickens are bigger than my chihuahua!    Susan

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Novice Chicken mama

Back when we had 2dozen chicks under the sink our dog was really interested in
them. About the size and shape of a dalmatian she would hang over their box and
watch them for hours. Of course they got out, a mass escape. That's when we
learned about covering the brooder with a screen. When we discovered it the
chicks were all huddled around the dog. climbing on her paws, trying to get
under her and in general having a grand time. We figured the chicks thought the
dog was some kind of God. The dog must of thought they were hers, whatever they
were. She never harmed them. Who would have thunk.
