[CHICKENS-101] lighting

If you are using light for heat and egg production, I'd use red heat lamps bulbs and two whites in a 50 x 150 ft barn.  My husband bought spot lights but I won't use them because I do not feel they are as safe as the heat lamps in the special fixtures. As long as the light fixtures are safe and a light/color someone wants probably doesn't matter what is used. Cathryn
. In general, red light stimulates egg production
efficiently, whereas green or blue light has little or no
effect. In commercial layers, during the first and second
season, total egg production was significantly influenced
by light color, with the greatest number of eggs
produced in the group treated with red light.
