We got our first egg today- it was right on schedule.
My husband has been agonizing over how best to fill the nesting boxes. He has each one nested differently (one is sand, one is alfalfa, one is wood chips, one is johnson grass and the last one is standard hay) so that the chickens will find one they like and be happy. The first egg was unceremoniously dumped on the ground. I don't think the chickens appreciate how concerned he has been with their comfort for the last month.
