They work well for that with a steep pitch.  Our roof though is fairly flatish, not a good snow roof.  Fortunately, we don't usually get snow.  : )

That's what I want for up north so the snow slides off the snow roof.  Cath


LOL, we have a tin roof!  That helps with audible rain!
