Re: [CHICKENS-101] Eggolas' Little World Was Rocked Today....

Oh, my, Anita, what a life Eggolas, lives, or rather 'puts up with'.   All that racket of machinery, and additional women moving in, contending with jealous 'original wives'  and then NEW FURNITURE arriving.  At our house that would be cause for the DH to say, to Eggolas, "Care for a little snort, my man"?

I love hearing about the trials and tribulations of Eggolas!  Maybe he should publish a book of his life!

Poor Eggolas the Rooster.  Not only did he have four new girls and a girl duck to contend with, DH HAD to put up a second roost for the new girls. Eggolas tried his best to bite and fling off the offending new roost, but had no success with it.

Eggolas also was upset with the duck Leelu, as she defended one of her chicken sisters from the nefarious pecks of a disturbed Gracie Lee, who was enforcing her place on the Pecking Order.  Mrs. Wren, Gracie Lee's sister, let my DH know how awful his idea was with the new chickens, and where they could go - anywhere but where they were at.

Not only was that rocking the little world of Eggolas, Gracie Lee and Mrs. Wren, but the FAN was MOVED and the CORD was hanging down in a most frightful manner DH adjusted the cord to Eggolas' liking, and Eggolas stopped fussing - and very loudly, too, I might add.

But the worst came when DH started drilling small ventilation holes in the door  Then Eggolas started imitating the sound of the drill as it would hiccup and get hot.  After a while, Eggolas was fine, until he saw something outside.  He still is standing guard, being a sentry chicken, standing guard against the evil fan.

I gave Eggolas some extra cuddling and told him his comb and wattles were still the prettiest I had ever seen.  Don't think that quite comforted the little man, and I will check on them tomorrow to see what all is up.  I think Scooter is relieved that she now isn't the only girl duck in the bunch, anymore.

Tongue in cheek,
Anita B.
