RE: [CHICKENS-101] Re: thanks and a question

It is not hogwash.  I personally know people who lost a collie and others that had seizures after Ivermectin.

It is not that collies can’t take heartworm preventative.  There are statistics of contraindications in collie breeds with the use of Ivermectin.

We use Interceptor for ours and it is Milbamycin.  Probably one of the mildest preventatives and recommended by Greyhound Rescue, too.

I use Ivermectin Injectable and administer it orally ……1cc per 100lbs.  I am dosing five Giant breeds……..two Pyrs, two Anatolians and one Great Dane.

My Border Collies get Interceptor……..and so does the geriatric Scotty mix.  Just because.

I have known many who use Ivermectin on their Border Collies without incident, but to me it is not worth the toss of the dice.  I figure what we save on using the Ivermectin for the big dogs can cover the excess we pay for the collies.  My vet gives me a good price since I buy a year’s worth at a time for four dogs.

Vets used to think that collies couldn't handle it,
But my vet just said that is "hogwash".

Been giving it to mine for awhile now.
