Maybe we have a cold enough winter that the oregano won't live through it--at least it hasn't so far... But maybe your oregano needs to be treated like horseradish and mint, and grow it in a section of pipe or similar, set down into the ground so it can't spread. (My mint suddenly popped up in the asparagus bed this past summer... probably a bird pooped it there!)
I've been watching some of the corn-fields that got flooded here earlier this year. The farmers apparently can't salvage anything, at least to feed to dairy cattle or other stock, according to the USDA. Wished I already had the chickens, so I could save some of the dry ears for them...
