[CHICKENS-101] Re: dogs, farming and neighbors

Deb, we are going through the same thing in Jackson area.  We unfortunately did allow not only Walmart but Lowes as well.  Sorry that we did.  It has shut down every single, but one, personally owned store in town.  With that said though, it has given us someplace "cheap" to shop - Walmart, so we can make it through these hard times.  People up here are walking away in the middle of the night from their "farms and small ranches".  I'm holding on by a prayer, with three horses - two of which I've been trying to sell for ages - no bites, LGD - I have mountain lion, bears, coyotes, etc. on a daily basis, inside dog, cats, goats, couple of cows, one pig, etc.  It's tough right now.  Hubby had to go to WA to obtain work. Luckily he built a great Chicken house for me before he left.  The girls are very happy with it and have no care in the world. The whole thing is sad though.  But I transgress.  In this area we are going through the same thing whereby, newbies are coming in, asking for "new" PR's on properties in that there are less and less areas to cultivate.  So we also are going through growing pains.  Luckily there are many of us that want to perserve and be able to live "together".  So we are looking to come to a happy medium.
