Re: [CHICKENS-101] Naughty New Pullets! They wiped out my GARDEN Tomatoes!!!

They can teach the new pullets but no control them. LOL!  Your pullets prbably thought you planted them specially for them. Cath

I have always let my hens free range. I have two old hens, who are well mannered and they are people friendly. Our dog, thinks he is a chicken, too! When he finishes eating, he will pick up his bowl and take it in the yard, where he and the old hens eat together. (It is so funny!!!) We have six new pullets who act like teenagers.

They have stayed with the old hens, who I expected to "teach them the ropes." A few days ago, I let them out.

The pullets have become bolder in their adventures. My husband stepped away from the garden for a few minutes. When he returned, he found that in just minutes, the pullets had striped his tomato planets of every ripe tomato that they could find! They pecked at everything. It was as if a swarm of locust descended. We are now in the process of putting up fencing. LOL!

Aren't the older hens suppose to teach the younger ones?????
