I doubt it's mites. Mites don't usually just sit on a finger, where they can be easily seen. I'm wondering if it's a tiny "splinter"....I have a heck of a time with our hay sometimes and a microscopic 'shard' of hay (usually the 'yellow' hay) will get into a place on my hand, and the skin covers it over so fast, I don't usually notice it until later. Boy does it itch and drive me nuts! I'm slightly allergic to certain grain hays, so even if I don't get any 'splinters', even just a scratch can cause me trouble.

Lately every time I go out to chicken run and coop I come back with an itchy spot on a finger, just one, never all over. No visible bite marks. Chiggers? What could it be? Today it's a finger, only thing I touched was their hanging feeder. They weren't even out yet. Observed chickens they aren't preening or itching themselves. My finger itches like crazy!Itching finger chick mama,Susan
