Unsure of exactly what kind of feed bags you're referring to, but I use the woven white mill's feed bags for landscaping "fabric". Keeps weeds at bay because of it's super-tight weave, and yet because it is woven it still allows air & rain to get through to the ground beneath it.
Throw some shavings or sawdust or wood chips on top, and voila – weed-proof walking paths, landscaped areas (cut a hole to plant a plant), etc etc etc.
