Re: [CHICKENS-101] Chicken Lights

Everyone is entitled to their opinions.  When it became bitter cold (-5 to -40) and my white rock's rooster's comb tips started looking a bit blue, I hung a heat lamp and my last 100 watt bulbs in their coop for them.  I hung the one under  a table, my rooster slept under it.  The meat bird/white rock cross slept under the red heat lamp with her leghorn friend, and the rest of the hens slept on their roost over their heat light.

Hi, Just on this subject, guess I am very old fashioned, but if that's the way nature intended it, for the girls to get a break over winter and so they don't get depleted, I wouldn't dream of over riding nature and saying hey wake up and lay, just like I wouldn't want anyone to do it to me!
Just my opinion.
