Sorry, I guess I missed something, why do they need lights at night?
I have lights in their coop, but I do not leave them on.

If the lights work after a year... I have not had much luck with solar lighting.
How about sky lights and over head yellow lights on a timer?
I have 6 huge skylights (changed from 9 smaller to 6 large new). We installed the metal encased wiring, overhead lights and wall plugs, each barn has it's own circuit box, with buried cables to the barns. A lot of work, but worth it.
