Oh the crumbles make an awful mess!
The minute they get damp or wet they turn into mud and the chickens won't eat it. Besides, they scratch it all over, then won't eat what was scratched out of the container.
They really are designed for cage chickens who have a feed tray just outside the bars, so they can stick their heads out and eat. No fun scratching, but total, neat, food consumption.
Maybe some feeders work better than others. Maybe I just haven't found one yet.
