Am over run with "yard rats" here as well. Guess it must be because there is so much to eat they tend to leave my veggie gardens alone.What attacks mine are the bunnies and chipmonks.
My late husband got special permits to kill deer that had horrid broken legs - at different times of course. So much more humane to be killed instantly with one shot than to be left to the coyotes (besides which it makes wonderful dog food)
