My sister and I each had a hen and a rooster. Mine were Bonnie and Clyde and hers were Sonny and Cher. LOL So inventive....We really loved them too. They weren't our first pet, we always had a dog but those chickens were really something special.

I had to laugh when I read this. My first experience with chickens came when I was a child. We lived in the city (our street had curbs) and one day my dad heard a noise outside. It was a chicken. We took it in and cared for it. It was my first pet. It was a rooster. I dressed it up in doll clothes and also pushed it in a stroller. It tolerated all of this. He was very personable and one of those special creatures we only see several times in a lifetime.
