You should never mix oyster shell with the feed because you can create a mineral imbalance in the feed. Oyster shell should always be offered on the side. I have a half quart coop cup in a tray feeder or you can put it in a separate dish.

Hi, I add oyster shell each day to the feed, and have some available in the shed for the hens.
I purchased a bag of Dumor Feed, never fed it before, I have always fed, Nutrena, and Nutrena Feather Fixer this year to the moulting hens, what a difference it made, also, there is a grain mill in the next Town,Taunton, that manufactures its own feeds, I prefer their chicken feed as it contains alfalfa meal.
