Re: [CHICKENS-101] Bullying

You  are more than welcome.  What is nice with Twin City Poultry Supply, you can call Victor and speak with him too.  I'd go with worminator because it is combartrin, your hen will only need 2 drops from a dropper. I'd treat my entire flock with the worminator, poultry vitamins,  and a good MG med too.

Hi - I have a 3-yr old black Australorp who has always been a sweet chicken.  Sometime last year, she was completely bald and we never realized that the others were pecking the poor thing on her head.  We put something like Blue Kote on it and eventually the feathers grew in again, but in the last couple of months, she stopped eating much, would go and hide in a corner and always had her tail down.  She is as light as a feather at this point.  We caught a couple of the others attacking her one day some weeks ago and so we isolated her in the pen that we keep for the purposes of introducing new chicks to the flock.  She'll eat hard-boiled eggs with enthusiasm and any grubs we find and bring her, but still doesn't eat much of her regular food.  Periodically, we try letting her out amongst the others and they attack with a singular viciousness, like they want to kill her.  We don't know what to do about it - in a few weeks we'll need the isolation pen for the new chicks and I don't really want to put them in with her.  Her poops are yellow and slimy and she lies in them so she is kind of stinky.  We give her a wash every few days but it doesn't take long for her to get yucky again.  Does anybody have any suggestions?  Thanks.  Marg
