Too much stem not enough leaves in the cubes; plus the cubes will need to be broken up in to fine pieces so they do not bind up their crops. I would not feed poultry alfalfa cubes. I use non slip barn lime under pine flake bedding. No bedding pellets, looks too much like pelleted chicken feed.

I was reading recently that bales of alfalfa are excellent for the flock in the winter. I am wondering if my Ladies would be happy with the alfalfa cubes that they sell for horses. Have any of you tried them?
Also, have any of you tried using the pelletized bedding that they sell for horses, for your birds as nesting material?
Thanks!
