Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: barley - was cabbage (was /snow)

I have researched this and bought wheat from my source where the wheat is tested.  Farmers are not growing GMO wheat nor are they pouring herbicides on it.

You need to further research this. Virtually ALL wheat produced in the
US today has been infected by GMO. It has been tested. Do the
research. It is virtually impossible to buy non-GMO wheat. ALL the big
producers are using GMO. And, yes, it is on the market. It is mostly
all that is sold. It isn't labeled, isn't required to be, so you don't
know if what you're buying is "officially" GMO or not. If buying for
planting you'll know if its "round-up ready", but for feed there is no
label. Many European countries and even China will no longer buy any US
wheat because of this. Big Brother keeps patting everyone on the back
and saying its all ok and folks are just using scare tactics. Anyone
concerned about their health and the health of their family and animals
needs to do the research. Or you can decide you're just fine. Everyone
needs to decide for themselves. You are however right about oats - so
far, though there have been some experiments with gmo oats, they aren't
on the market. As to barley, you can NOT separate off the hulls if you
are trying to sprout them. You'll end up with a rotten mess. You can
ferment separated barley, but not sprout it. The process of dehulling
damages the germ. So you need hulless, or you need to use the hulled
seed, and let the sprouting/rinsing process remove the hulls - which it
does.
