Re: [CHICKENS-101] [CHICKENS101] New Rooster/snow

That sounds just horrible. We have been having crystal blue skies for months now. Not one drop of rain. Warmish in the day time and COLD at night. ("cold" meaning 28 degrees!) All the trees are suffering from no rain. I don't think I could handle living in all that snow!! But it sure would be nice to get some rain here. Our local Atascadero lake is completely dried up and alot of plants are dying.

I'm so glad we don't get snow out here in Central California. I have heat lamps on for our chickens if it gets below 40 degrees!   Speaking of snow...does any one have snow that won't melt, but just turns to ice and sits there?  There's been alot of talk about strange snow lately!

Not "strange" snow at all. When the temp is too low the salt (or whatever) does NOT work for melting. Got dumped on with another 10" today and it's still falling at this hour. Driveway is more than treachous even though Dr. Sweeny plowed it yesterday.

Alyssa slid off in her little Honda Civic and even son, Adam, in the Silverado got stuck and had to dig both out this morning. I stayed in today even though dog food was needed (feed raw) so just punted for their dinner.

I've been completly snow bound for a couple of days now.  If it was hard for two 20/30 yr olds to slog up the 1/3 mile driveway I'm sure not going to do it
