Re: [CHICKENS-101] [CHICKENS101] New Rooster/snow

Hang a cabbage for chickens? Thought sounds like fun! How do you hang it!! I had to go into the coop to change the water tonight and the rooster seemed to understand I was helping out. He didn't act aggressive until after I was done and then he sidled up to the side and postured. I just talked to him and told him how handsome he was. I've sort of named him Mr. Doodles for obvious reasons. He seems to know his name now.

Hi Deb. Yes my dad was so excited about that rain. He is a retired cattleman and farmer. He is hoping that the rain will be enough to sprout the grass seed on the hillsides. Mom put a tin trash can lid under the downspout so they could hear the rain noise. She said it was so loud!

Yes the area was mostly dry wheat farming, dry pasture for cattle and dry almond orchards along with some alfalfa. Then the vineyards and wineries took over. The town council wanted to turn the farm town into a destination place for tourists. They love all the wineries. We miss the old dry farming ways. The land and water was not made to provide so much steady watering along with providing the townfolk with water too.

Now here in NE WA we have a creek and pond and summer rains and winter snows. I feel a little guilty.... when I tease my Paso family about it. ;-) Of course this week they will tease me about our single digit temps.
