Re: [CHICKENS-101] [CHICKENS101] New Rooster

I apologize for changing the topic,I tired to make a new topic but it just would not go through.Never had that happen before anyhow I just wanted to ask a question about your hens and the snow:

With the very bad weather we had in Georgia, and the snow changing to ice quickly, the ladies were not happy at all. My husband shoveled a path from their coop door into the yard and made several paths for them to follow. They went in single line grumbling all the way to explore this new stuff.

When it first started snowing they were under one of our trees. I guess watching it from the sky really scared them because they made a beeline for their coop. The next day before Ed shoveled the paths they would go from the coop to their covered outside pen and stare but did not want to go out. They have seen snow before(we have had our hens for over 6 years),but the snow never really laid on the ground covering everything,so this was a new experience for them.

Our cats, on the other hand, have never seen snow before either but they went nuts in it running around and playing until it got so cold that the snow turned to ice and the back yard was a big slip and slide.

How did your feather babies react to the snow?
