Hi!
  I don't use them either! I bought a bunch of them thinking they would be great at keeping the water clean but down here in South Texas we can get a stretch of days over 100* and I noticed that my birds were spending a lot I mean LOT of time at the water buckets. Then one day I noticed when I let them out to free range they went straight for the water pans we put down for them. I don't think they were getting enough water with the nipples. They weren't able to get a really good cooling drink and down here that is very necessary in the heat.

I hate it that the nipples leak drops of water on the floor and make the bedding wet. Only a few of my chickens would even try it.  Silkies can have an attitude and like their water dishes that I have raised up to their height.  I have a baggie of nipples that I will never use.  Cathryn MI
