Doug, Actually apples have a lot to do with raising chickens. I am not the only person who picks and stores bushels upon bushels of organic apples for their chickens/poultry to eat during the winter. I brought out 2 boxes more from the fruit cellar for my chickens and put them in the mud room so my chickens have warm treats on our lovely -10 nights. I spent months picking un-sprayed apples for my chickens. The pumpkins go rather fast in the fall; the stored squash have to be used up next along with the turnips that start to grow (I bake them and serve them warm.). Apples are fed according to their type and storage life. Apples have much to do with raising chickens whether you pick them, let them fall on the ground or stay on the tree for the apples to fall during the winter for the chickens to eat up.
