Without having perches inside you are trying to force her to lower herself in the pecking order. She perches high because she is the top chicken. She can not do so inside, so instinctively she goes back outside where she holds her place and feels safe. If you are worried about the cold put her into the house and shut the door, if you do not have a door on the coop, you need to install on especially in those temps.

I put her in the coop and there were two empty nesting boxes with a lot of straw. The others roost when the weather is warmer. Sheâs the last holdout. We have a small coop with nesting boxes. This is attached to a larger pen that I can walk into. This larger pen has the roosts. She sits on the highest perch. I thought this had something to do with pecking order. She being the âmatronâ.
