Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Chickens pulling their feathers out

LOL!  Shannon, You are right, what I wrote was unclear.  I got on to take my mind off my hateful tendons and muscles.  I'll get new pictures soon.  Somewhere I have a flash drive with pictures of everything, and pictures of before and after.  Picture a huge old fashioned 1800's layer barn with the 7ft roost platform with roost bars on pulleys cut back to a 42 inch tongue and groove platform, (the sections of roost pulleys are out, the nest boxes and trenches for water and feed are all out).  There is a middle divider down 3/4 of the barn to give me a wall connected to ceiling supports. Only went 3/4 down in the middle to give the well pump more room, a large table, and a small table to use by the water.  (Pit around the water has a deep drainage system filled with pea rock that took many years of grumbling to get.)   A wide aisle lets me get the gas powered wheel barrow down it.  A 6ft dolly holds feed, oyster shell, et...  My pen panels and gates are made out of cedar and can be unscrewed and interchanged.  The supports that run from the ceiling to the floor that used to support the roost platform now support my pen panels and gates.  Right now I have the barn divided up into 8 pens from 13.  I can go up to as high as 15, 16 if I use part of the aisle. It is all set up for silkies.  On the roost platform I have large cages.  Seramas are in 3 dog cages.  Roosters whose hormones get out of control and need a break, an egg eating hen, and a broody who will not stop are in the egg roll out cages with foot rests.  I have two 4.5'x8' brooders up on chest high legs, one each of the two largest pens.  I am not using them as brooders right now.  They are back up in case a hen goes crazy hatching in the winter.  Underneath I hang heat lamps for my older silkies.  There are 6 huge skylights (used to be 9 with 2 panels each but they were old and leaked), 8 new large window across the left side, outdoor pens with 5 access gates along both sides of the barn, fencing over the windows not inside of the outdoor pens.  A garage door and regular door on the back with double fencing and steel storm doors, steel door, with fencing screwed down and door guards. Front door steel storm door and door. Everything is kept padlocked. The best part is, it is was all cleaned  - my way - this weekend.
