I've always had two roosters in each pen, and they've always gotten along fine - until 2 night ago. Daryl, the once subordinate rooster, took out the former dominate rooster, Rick. I thought Rick was dead; he looked like a bad toupee discarded in the coop with Daryl hopping around him squawking, "You want a piece 'a me?!?"
Today I re-homed Rick and a younger unnamed cockerel. Now I'm searching for home for Calypso, an absolutely gorgeous mille fleur, and Cookie, who is, I think, a golden mille fleur. Judy also has to make a decision about her Japanese bantams. We have two hens and 3 roosters, who all get along. But, since I have to bring the roosters in at night so that they won't disturb the neighbors in the early AM, she's got some decisions to make.
There's one more "potential" rooster to keep an eye on, but everybody else of any age is a female, Thank God. Jenni, I'll be watching my pullets to see which are the best three that I'm willing to re-home. I'm going to try and make them different colors so you can tell them apart.
Cathryn, I still have your "I'm full of myself" mille fleur cockerel, the black and white pullet, and the solid black pullet in reserve for you. All that need to happen is for the weather to cool down so I can ship them to you.
