Actually Cassie, believe it or not, it isn't a cheap solution if the aquarium is in the coop.
Aquarium heaters are made for the house not outdoors so don't work well elsewhere.

Couldn't you use an aquarium heater to keep the water from freezing? I live
in California so it doesn't freeze here, but it seems like a pretty easy
and inexpensive solution.
