Re: [CHICKENS-101] How long to wait for last eggs to hatch?

Leave them for a day or so and then toss them if they don't hatch. Mom needs to concentrate on the babies and take them to food and water so they can learn to eat and drink. She may neglect this duty if she thinks she still has eggs to hatch.

Hi all,
As some of you may remember i have an extremely broody hen. Having failed to break her broodiness I instead ordered eggs from ebay. I placed 9 standard size americauna eggs beneath her (funny to see a banty trying to cover so many standard eggs) Yesterday on day 20 7 of the 9 eggs hatched. I moved her and her brood including eggs to a dog crate at floor level. How long should I leave the two remaining eggs under her? She has no interest in leaving them yet so I'm leaving her alone and putting feed and water in the crate. her babies are beautiful and inquisitive and Momma hen is in heaven. This is what she was born to do!
