Re: [CHICKENS-101] chickens won't go into coop

Brenda, Put their food, oyster shell,  and water in their coop, along with their nest boxes,  lock them in for another 4-5 days.  (I have my chickens food and water dishes elevated their height on rubber tubs that my horse's molasses suckers came in.) Check your roost heights and make sure they have plenty of room and the roosts are roosts below they can use to get up on the highest one. If their coop is stuffy and hot, put a fan in the window.  Have a night light hung over their in and out door before you let them out.  A yellow spiral light works well. I buy mine at Home Depot and Lowes.  They have to go in and out of their coop to eat and drink, they should lay their eggs in their coop, and go to roost at night in their coop.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] chickens won't go into coop

I am having a terrible time getting my chickens to go back into the coop at night. They stay around my house and roost on my deck. I have moved them twice to our coop.. even moved the coop to our front pasture about  1/2 a football field away in front of our house. this time I left them in the coop for 4 days. They seem to waddle right back to the same location.. Can anyone offer me any advice please

thanks.

love in Christ Brenda,
