[CHICKENS-101] Re: The Most Unusual Livestock Guardian

Well, that's just not the case. My birds have flown for years with hawks including Peregrines on occasion. I avoid it if I can, but sometimes they are in the air when a hawk moves in. Not all hawks are dangerous to a big parrot, in fact few are. All are opportunistic, I'll grant you that. If a hawk just has to fly into an area with parrots or chickens to get an easy meal, I think there would be no such thing as one free range chicken because a hawk in the area--and just because you don't see them doesn't mean they aren't there, they are everywhere there is food--would be in every two or three days taking one. And starvation wouldn't be the #1 killer of hawks in the fall.

But, please, let's just drop it. I will continue to fly my parrots outside as I have done for many, many years. My parrots will live outside and help sound an alarm when there is a hawk that they can see (they are a little handicapped by the trees if they are in the aviary).
