Most Conures weigh less than 100 grams. My Scarlet weighs 1200 plus grams. Huge difference in size and risk. A Sharp Shinned hawk will go after a little Conure. A very large female Coopers would think twice about tackling my macaw. You can't compare the lost Conure you saw, a bird who probably had very little if any flight skills with my seasoned fit macaws.
