Re: [CHICKENS-101] Tiny Egg

Hi Rita, Do you have a hen going into a molt slowing down on laying or just coming back into production?  The egg is called a wind egg and passed thru your hen quickly.  Usually these eggs do not have a yolk.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Tiny Egg

We've notice that in the past few months one of the hens had started laying a smaller egg. More like the size a pullet starts with – then today when I went to gather eggs there was an egg about the size of a quail egg – and we don't have any quails and the pullets aren't old enough to start lying yet. We have 3 BR/1BO/5BA/5BA 9 wk old pullets. What would cause a hen to lay a tiny egg?

Thanks in advance
Rita
