If you dont have chick waterer's try taking a tuna can (clean) and an empty soda or water bottle. Place the bottle in the tuna can and cut or burn a hole in the bottle below the top of the tuna can. fill with water and tightly put the cap on. Voila! chick waterer. I use shredded paper for bedding for my chicks and change it often.  The old bedding goes into my compost pile for next years garden.

Fresh pine shavings - every day, if you have to. I have been having a
problem with sitting out a bowl of water, which they promptly wade in
and spill. I will have to hunt up some water bottles for them - much
less mess that way.
