So a little back ground, we do emergency foster care, we had a 3 year old red headed girl for a while. Fast forward 2 ½ years.
I get 3 Rhode Island Red pullets, one is dark red, I named her Rhoda, one is quite blonde, my wife named her Tally, then there is a very red one.
So I was sitting in the run talking to them yesterday and said to the red one, “you need a name, I know, what about Isabelle?” that was then name of the girl that lived here.
It was so funny, that chicken looked at me, her eyes got real wide, and she ran under the coop as fast as she could.
After I stopped laughing, I said to her “How did you know, you never met her”. Yes our little 3 year old Isabelle was quite the wild child.
She still has no name, the 6 chicks don’t either. I am thinking of letting my grand kids name some of them J
Cheers

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Naming your chicken
So please tell me why the man who names all his cars and tractors has trouble wrapping his mind around my desire to name my chickens? I have a dozen little fuzzballs who now have feathers on their wings yet only three have names!
Need some ideas and suggestions! See my little babies here: www.myhappyacres.blogspot.com
