A piece of 2x4 or a round ceramic cat dish turned upside down works. I change my chicks water at least 4 times a day. Little ones are messy!

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] keeping waterers clean
I finally got my chicks and guinea fowl. I have 40 one week old birds in
a brood box that is 4' X 6'. They seem to have enough room for now. My
big problem is keeping the waterers clean of wood chips. No matter how
often I clean them, the chicks scratch chips into the waterers. I put
the waterers on a square of plywood so they aren't on the 'ground', but
the birds are still messing them up.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Debbie
