I used the pieces that I'd cut out and put hinges on top so it could be lifted-up & braced opened..... was leary about hinges on it's bottom letting it drop open on it's on easier. Suppose you could hinge them to a side 'tho too.
For the winter, I affix clear plexiglass to their insides for additional "insulating", and to be able to open the windows & let the sun in without letting all the cold winter air in.
