In polite society these are called 'wind eggs' the rest of us call them 'farts'. The usually do not have a yoke. They do happen from time to time.

More like the size a pullet starts with then today when I went to gather eggs there was an egg about the size of a quail egg and we don't have any quails and the pullets aren't old enough to start lying yet. We have 3 BR/1BO/5BA/5BA 9 wk old pullets. What would cause a hen to lay a tiny egg?
