How to raise Backyard Chickens: [CHICKENS-101] "Live Animals"

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO SEND LETTERS AND EMAILS about fees not being raised to ship live animals/chicks/adult chickens. For those who are interested and for those who feel an increase in fees without an increase in services is wrong, here is an outline letter to the USPS, along with the email address ProductClassification@usps.gov to email it to. The link can be cut or copied into the TO box, I filled the correct subject line that is needed to direct our emails to the correct person. You can delete my email, fill in the letter. My family and friends have all sent letters. It is not just about increased costs to us, but hatcheries whose profits are a fine line between costs and profits. If you are not interested please ignore my email. The proposed increased fee will not improve services, only RAISE SHIPPING fees. I'll follow this email with the notice sent me from Idea Poultry. Dear Sir or Madam:

I would like to voice my concerns about the proposed changes to the New Mailing Standards for Live Animals. [Explain who you are and why you raise poultry]

This proposal would increase the postage amount on our shipments by $9 or $11.95 per bundle depending on the weight. Ten pounds will be the higher price. [Describe why you purchase poultry through the mail, how this additional cost will affect you and your purchasing of poultry.]

Within the proposal it describes the additional cost but does not describe the additional services we will receive for this fee. [Describe any problems you have had in the past and services you expect.]

I feel that this rate increase is excessive and request that it not be implemented.
