I have 4 hens, 2 are silver laced windotts they rule together , they are like identical twins they do everything together, Then a barred rock she is 3rd in the pecking order I wonder if the windotts think she might be one of there breed?
then I have a beautiful Black and teal austrolup who is just wonderful. But I notice the windotts don't really bother her much unless she tries to get right where they are eating. But Salt the barred rock just chases her all over and is just down right mean to her. She doesn't make her bleed or anything but she chases her every excuse she gets. I would think with the windotts barely letting Salt in their social circle that she would be glad to have beauty for company but no! she is horrible! Paula in Az

I have a Speckled Sussex who took on the bossy role as a chick. When I put the automatic feeder in their box, she wouldn't let anyone get near it. I think she thought she was protecting everyone. they rushed her in a group and got by her to the food. Pretty funny! She is still assertive but I am not even sure she is the top now after nearly 2 years. She and the Buff Orpington are always the first to greet me.
