Re: [CHICKENS-101] Sick Chick

Sad, but just a fact of raising chickens.

Learn from your parents' mistake.  Use birth control.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Sick Chick

My sick little bantam is still alive.

It crashed Tuesday night. I gave it fluids with an eye dropper (Sav-A-Chick electrolytes and probiotics mixed according to directions) and it perked up for a bit. I added sugar to the solution and again, it perked up but didn't really revive. I sifted the chick starter and added a bit to that. I expected the chick to die that night, but it didn't. I worked all yesterday getting food (the electrolyte/probiotics fluids mixed with sifted chick feed and cooked egg yoke) and fluids into the baby but it's not good.

Last night I decided to stop supporting it. It is separated in a box under the heat lamp with chick food scattered around and its own water jug. Sadly, I expect it to die.

All the other chicks look fantastic.
