Eggbound is tough. If other hens find out they will peck her protruded part and tear to her death. Cathy is right if the oviduct has prolapsed you have to put her down.
if she she young she may be eggbound because of a double yolked egg. in this case the mineral oil and petroleum jelly has to be pushed way up until you feel the egg while the other hand is on the abdomen of the hen pressing the egg downward. This should force the gg through the vent. Once you actually see the shell in the vent, puncture it with something sharp and withdraw
the egg parts. Put her in a warm place will sometimes let the egg come out on its own as the warmth helps the muscles in the oviduct to relax.
If the cloaca is inflamed though you can inject cold water to ease her discomfort this happens with an inverted oviduct and is really rare. You put the cold water through the vent, clean and push the parts back and inject cold water constantly.
Typically though eggbound happens on a fat hen.
