The first of my hens to set was one I called "Baldie" because she was in the same shape as your hen. I did isolate her from the other chickens while she was setting. Her feathers gradually grew back and now she is one of the slickest looking hens I have.
My boy, George, is REAL active and there are a number of hens that have white areas on their backs. He has 8 hens to service (have one that just hatched out chicks, so she is not in the mix).

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] rough mating & the bald spot
One of the girls has developed a bald spot on her back from my big boy's rough mating. it doesn't look inflamed or anything but is completely featherless.
two concerns: with the cold weather I bet this is really uncomfortable for her and although the boys seem to have moved on to other conquests, how long before the feathers grow back (should I do anything?)?
I don't want to separate her due to pervious troubles with reintroductions. suggestions are appreciated.
