Re: [CHICKENS-101] Information needed on Rooster

He's protecting his ladies. I've dealt with this several times when they get around that age. Hormones. Spring is coming sometime and he's showing he's who is in charge.
Are they cooped all the time, or do they range or have a run?
What has worked for me, and your experience my differ. Pick him up, hold him upside down by his feet for a min or 2. While doing this I inform him who is the head of the coop and that he can easily be turned in to someone's Sunday meal. Also picking them up carrying them football style while you are doing things around the coop. I usually face them backwards so they can get to my hand. Baby talk them. It humiliates them in front of the rest of the flock.
I have a bantam EE roo and the later worked great. He thinks he's 10 feet tall and bullet proof. The later worked wonders. Had to do it a few times. He now will only gently peck at the back of my leg to let me know he's ready to eat, I have several that won't eat with the larger birds.
If all else fails, my DH had to chunk a piece of log at a roo that was bothering him, doesn't bother him anymore. I feed them/they are mine, so he doesn't bother me.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Information needed on Rooster

Hello everyone, I have not posted mostly a lurker here, but I need some information. I have a Buff Orpington Rooster just about a year old that has started to attack me when I go in to feed them. The ladies like to be petted and I do that but He gots very angry when I go in the coop. Is this a normal behavior or is there something I can do?
