My chicks born in sept. are not afraid of cold. The 10 older girls (1.5 years)assorted breed hide in the coop and look at the coop looking at the snow. The 3 teens polish mix just barrel out as soon as I open the door and spend all day outside. We even shoveled an area plus there is the under coop area so they all could come out.
